Colarado Trades Long-Time Ace to get Prospects

Gets:
SP - Deon Carter - 94

Gets:
SS - Jay Gilbert 78/92
1B Patrick Colon 68/84
CF Scott Hammond 75/86
New Haven 2nd round pick

"Carter did his thing for me and brought a World Series to Colorado. Unfortunately it's time we part ways as the Rockies move in to a rebuilding phase.

Since he's 35, signed to a large contract for the next 4 years and dropped a few points just last season, I figure this deal is good enough.

The trade still leaves me with a pretty good rotation, including 2 younger pitchers with better vitals than Carter in Weir and Moreno.

We wish Carter the best of luck in his quest to gain a 2nd World Series title with a great team.

As for what the Rockies are receiving in return, Gilbert looks like he could be a good-hitting IFer (though maybe not a SS). But I actually really like the 1B Colon and think he could really develop into a LH power-hitter. Hammond has awesome range which is a must for a CFer at Coors Field.''
