When bearsforlife was asked why he is doing this trade he said "With Mathieu Kelly having peaked, he will need to get into my starting lineup, which means Deglan must head off elsewhere b/c there is no point in wasting him on my bench. I obtain 2 quality prospects in Neptune and DelVecchio, who will be important pieces for my future pitching rotation hopefully. Piazza isn't anything special but he will fill my backup catcher role some point within the next year, and Dusty Wahl makes the deal balanced in my eyes. I also included a 3rd rounder to LA, which should net Gavin an 82 peaked player, so a mid-level prospect."
